There is lack of availability of resources in the rural regions in India. There is also lack of infrastructure in the schools situated in rural areas - non availability of benches, playgrounds, laboratories, washrooms or if present they are in the worst condition.
Sometimes the textbooks are not available in required quantity, or if available they are not in good condition. Also, the availability of stationery is also a challenge. Many rural Indians don't have enough money to bear stationery charges and other expenses.
Another challenge is that there is no transportation and hence poor connectivity from one place to another place.
Another challenge is less availability of teachers. In India, the school in rural areas have only one or two teachers in the school.

  • The principle of gender equality is enshrined in the Indian Constitution in its Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive Principles. The Constitution not only grants equality to women, but also empowers the State to adopt measures of positive discrimination in favour of women.
  • Within the framework of a democratic policy our laws, development policies, Plans and programmes have aimed at women's advancement in different spheres. From the Fifth Five Year Plan (1974-78) onwards there had been a marked shift in the approach to women's issues from welfare to development. In recent years, the empowerment of women has been recognized as the central issue in determining the status of women. The National Commission for Women was set up by an Act of Parliament in 1990 to safeguard the rights and legal entitlements of women. The 73rd and 74th Amendments (1993) to the Constitution of India have provided reservation of seats in the local bodies of Panchayats and Municipalities for women, laying a strong foundation for their participation in decision making at the local levels.

Before you can begin promoting environmental awareness in your community, you must first make sure that you have a thorough understanding of environmental issues. Stay up to date on environmental news, read books and other resources, and learn about the issues affecting your own community. It's much easier to talk to others about the environment if you've already taken the time to educate yourself.
Numerous resources are available to promote environmental awareness and education: group learning (inside or outside the classroom), informational and inspirational seminars, books, articles, videos, and brochures are just a few of the tools that can get you involved in promoting the environment.
